Many of us struggle to achieve success, and sometimes it feels like the harder we work, the further we get from our goals. Why is that? Because often we forget about the true key to success.
The True Key To Success
It lies in a passage from Matthew 25:14-29, which states:
“For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
Matthew 25:14-29
At first, this may not seem fair, but if we add the word “gratitude” to this truth, everything becomes crystal clear:
“For whoever has gratitude will be given more reasons to be grateful, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have gratitude, even what they have will be taken from them.”
This concept applies to all aspects of life, including happiness.
Happiness is a state of mind that we choose to have. It’s a decision we must take. It should not depend on external factors; otherwise, our lives would be out of control.
Our success is intertwined with our happiness throughout the journey, not the other way around. The good news is that we have free will, allowing us to take actions that make us happy whenever we want.
Let me share an example that inspired me to write this post: Today, I stopped at a local grocery store after the gym to buy some water to bring home. I picked up two packs of six bottles each and a few other items.
When I reached the cashier, I placed everything on the conveyor belt and moved one of the heavy bottle packs onto the counter, saying, “I have two of these.”
As I paid, I noticed that the total amount was lower than expected. I realized that the cashier had missed calculating the second water pack, so I informed her.
The True Key To Success: A heartfelt thank you.
She looked at the receipt, then at me, and back at the receipt. Her expression showed genuine gratitude when she said, “Thank you so much.”
It wasn’t a routine or automatic thank you; she truly appreciated my honesty. I could feel her sincerity.
She realized she had made a mistake, and I helped her correct it without any negative consequences, without expecting anything back. She was genuinely happy and grateful for my assistance.
However, the fact that she was so surprised by my action made me realize that this might have been the first time someone had done this for her, even though she might have made similar mistakes before.
I made her day, she made mine. Everybody’s happier.
This small act of kindness not only made her day but also had a profound impact on mine. As I drove home, I couldn’t stop singing and smiling, reflecting on what had happened. Even hours later, as I write this post, I still feel the joy of that experience. It has had a positive impact on my day, enabling me to successfully complete important tasks and two meetings with ease.
The moral of the story is clear: Our success and happiness are closely tied to our actions and mindset. By cultivating gratitude and taking small, positive actions every day, we not only bring happiness to others but also create a ripple effect of positivity in our own lives.
So, let us remember the power of gratitude and the impact our actions can have. Embrace the opportunities to make a difference, no matter how small they may seem. As we do so, we pave the way for our own success and bring joy to the world.
